Happy Halloween!

Boo to you!

Can you believe it is Halloween? The last day of October! WOW! Where does the time go? I used the Spooky patterned papers from Pebbles, Inc. for this card, along with some super-FAB Raven Tulle. The images are all Odd Bird Planet...Teresa's Spider, Boo to You, and Kelly's Regular Spider Web.

We have been busy attending several Halloween events...We went to Borders Bookstore on Saturday. It was so much fun! They read stories to the kids and played some games with them. There was trick-or-treating...and they gave books away as prizes! YAY! Here is Cameron playing one of the games...maybe Musical Chairs.

The highlight of the weekend was going to our friends', the Kistlers', church for a Trunk or Treat on Sunday! The kids had so much fun with the activities planned...and just hanging out with Emily and Bethany! (And Ms. Lorie and Mr. Ken, too, OF COURSE!!) Here are a few pictures of the evening:

Yep, Cameron is dressing up as Buzz Lightyear this year (thanks to Nana and Grandpa for the SUPER COOL Jet Pack! He NEVER wants to take that off, by the way!), and Katy is a cute pumpkin! :) What are your kids dressing up as? What are YOU dressing up as? I'll leave you with our super spooky jack-o-lantern that Drew carved with Cameron. Actually, this picture kind of wonked out on us, but I actually think it's kind of spooky and cool looking!!

Candy Corn Card

Good morning! I hope you are all having a wonderful start to your week! It's been a busy start here, but we like it that way! ;)

I want to share a Halloween card with you that actually coordinates with my Death By Candy Corn Jar found HERE. I love the simplicity of this layout, coupled with the fact that there are a few fun details! I used a white base for the card, then added strips of Curry and Only Orange cardstock. I stamped several cute little Odd Bird Planet critters (don't you LOVE the Superman Owl?!?), watercolored, then embellished! I added Crystal Effects to the space helmet (it's a tragedy that you cannot see how cute it is in the photo! I could NOT get a decent photo of that!), Liquid Applique to the bunny tail, and Orange Peel Stickles to SuperOwl's beak. The pirate chick is all Spica'ed out! :) Don't they look like adorable trick-or-treaters??? I layered the main image on Black cardstock, then popped it up on foam tape over the candy corn striping! I added the two Orange Rhinestones to the sides to finish this off!

I hope you are all having a wonderful day! Lots of you have signed up for the Limelight Papercrafts newsletter, which should be finished up and sent out today, actually! If you haven't signed up, you have through Friday to sign up and be eligible for the Chocolate Box cardstock giveaway! Good luck! :)

Death By Candy Corn!

Heehee! I just LOVE this Odd Bird Planet sentiment stamp! Death by candy corn! I tell ya, what a WAY to GO! The only thing better, of course, would be death by CHOCOLATE. Yum.

I made a little gift for our neighbor and dear friend Jon, who I heard loves candy corn! Today is Jon's birthday, so what a perfect opportunity to bring over a favorite treat!

I used GP White, Only Orange, and Summer Sun paper strips to create a band around the container (which happens to be a recycled Archer Farms...Target brand...rice jar). I like how even the band resembles candy corn! The Death By Candy Corn stamp is actually a long stamp, so I inked up the words separately and arranged them so that I could contain them in a 1 3/8" circle punch. I matted that circle on a black scalloped circle and alternated Deep Yellow and Orange Kaisercraft rhinestones to embellish! Tied a few ribbons around the neck and ALL DONE!

Check back tomorrow for another creation and a super exciting giveaway! It'll be something we'll have in the store SOON, but you could win it first!!

Ooh, and speaking of blog candy, our DT member and friend Ryann is offering up some AWESOME goodies on her blog! Be sure to check it out HERE!

Limelight Loot!

Happy Friday! I am finally feeling better and back to creating again, but nothing is really ready enough to share...

SO.... How about some Limelight Loot giveaways instead? ;) I have two prizes up for grabs... First up, the "grand prize" if you will, is a Little Yellow Bicycle Haunted House album kit! It was really tough getting a picture of it without the glare, but it contains a Haunted House chipboard album (complete with o-rings), an assortment of glitter-accented die cut shapes and sentiments, and a detailed instructions sheet! :) The best part is that you will have plenty of EXTRA die cut pieces to use after you complete the album! I've included a finished project picture as well.

The second prize I am giving away is package of Disney Adhesive Bottle Caps from EK Success, along with a 0.5 oz trial size each of Ranger's Crackle Accents and Sepia Accents. :) Perfect for scrapbooks and fun cards!

Leave a comment here to be eligible for the prize drawing! I will draw the two winners early Saturday morning so that I can get the Halloween goodies out quickly! PLEASE SHARE THIS GIVEAWAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS! For each person you refer who enters the drawing, you can have an additional entry! If you tell five friends who leave a comment, YOU get SIX entries (one original comment, plus one for each friend!). On the additional entries, just tell me who you referred! :)

HAVE A GREAT DAY! CHECK BACK IN THE MORNING FOR THE WINNERS!

And while you are here, check out THIS POST to learn how you can help children with cancer, and CHECK OUT LIMELIGHT PAPERCRAFTS for our big Halloween sale!

ETA: I will draw the winners early Saturday morning. I'm going to bed at 9:30pm Eastern...I want to give the night owls and Pacific folks a fair chance! :) Thanks for understanding! Good night!

A Child's Card!

My sweet friend Jill is holding a donation drive of BabyLegs for local children hospitalized with cancer! I have posted it here, and even my friend LAUREN MEADER is getting in on the action!! :) Check out THIS POST or even THIS FLIER to see how you can help children with cancer either by donating some BabyLegs OR sending a card to be given WITH the BabyLegs.

I'd just like to give a little update...I've received a couple of AWESOME cards from the wonderful Ryann Salamon, and I know there are lots more on the way! THANK YOU! Please be sure to check out Jill's selection of BabyLegs through her business, Heavenly Blessed (see links above!) to order your BabyLegs. Donate a couple, and if you have little ones, consider a pair for them, too! :)

Not only have I received promises of cards from many adults, Jill's adorable daughter wanted to get in on it! The card at the top is hers...she did it ALL BY HERSELF! Isn't it awesome? ;) Great job, girlie!

Oh, and I thought you might like to know that Drew's Unity Hubby Challenge card will be donated as well. :) Thanks, Drew!

Halloween Checklist, Little Yellow Bicycle, and BabyLegs!

I actually made this at the Stampendous! make and take booth at CHA this summer, but it is SUCH a cute idea, and I thought some of you might like to try a last-minute Halloween project! Or adapt this to fit another theme! This is a mini clipboard covered with orange pigment ink and embossed with Crystal Embossing Powder for the sparkle! A few Stampendous! Class A'Peels were added, and a few ribbons were tied to the top. The Checklist was something the wonderful people at Stampendous! typed up, and then we stamped Changito and Fluffles all over it. I have a very dear friend (one of my FAVORITE customers!) who will be finding this in her mailbox this week because she LOVES Changito!

I'd like to remind you to check out THIS POST or even THIS FLIER to see how you can help children with cancer either by donating some BabyLegs OR sending a card to be given WITH the BabyLegs. If you have any questions, PLEASE let me know! I truly feel that this will be such a wonderful way to love some families, and to be an encouragement to them. All orders for the BabyLegs must be in for Jill no later than Wednesday, October 29. Blank cards should be mailed to ME by October 31. Thank you for your help and kindness! We purchased the Orange Stripe and Strawberry Shortcake pairs to donate...I let Cameron choose one for a boy and one for a girl! :) He has good taste, I think!

In other news... We received the Christmas Magic collection from Little Yellow Bicycle today, and it's in the store!!! Talk about beautiful! I also added a Christmas category at Limelight, and I hope that will make it easier to find all of the Christmas products you'll be looking for in one place. I've done the same with a Weekly Specials button, so you can look in ONE place for everything on sale for the week!!

Introducing the Six Chicks!

Well, here we are... It is the moment you've all been waiting for! The big design team announcement! It was such a tough decision! The tragedy was that we really could only offer a total of six positions at this time, and there was SO MUCH talent to choose from! I mean it when I say we agonized over the decision, prayed about it, and chose carefully! If you applied, thank you! We loved your work! I can say that because EVERYONE who applied totally BROUGHT IT! If you did not make it this round, I encourage you to hang in there! Try again next time! And of course....there is always the monthly guest designer spot now! :)

I am pleased to introduce the Limelight Papercrafts Design Team! We're THRILLED beyond words that the original four are ALL staying on board. We were able to add two additional designers as well! Please give them a friendly welcome, and be sure to check out their great blogs!!

The Two New Designers:

Lisa Henke
Hi! I grew up in Michigan, but followed Tim back to his hometown of Cincinnati, OH 10 yrs. ago and now this is where I call home. I am a wife to my wonderful husband, Tim. We just celebrated our 8th Anniversary! We have three energetic young boys (6,4, and 20 months). They are the motivation behind my scrapbooking and since I never get to use pink or flowers on my pages I use my cards to express my girly side. Stamping is my saving grace and I look forward to nap time each day so I can escape downstairs to create something. I have been stamping for almost 8 yrs. now and have been a Stampin' Up! demo for almost 5 yrs. I do love to cook and read, but I admit that almost any free time I have is spent stamping, blog hopping, or hanging out on SCS. I am so excited to be a part of the Limelight team!

Visit Lisa's Blog HERE!

Ryann Salamon
Hi there! My name is Ryann Salamon (aka rsalamon on Splitcoast) and I am just thrilled
to be a design team member for Limelight Papercrafts! I live in sunny San Diego with my
husband of almost 2 years and work in the video game industry in the accounting
department. I started stamping a year ago after visiting my mom to get ideas on my
wedding invitations and I thought "Hey, I can do that!" and here I am! I am a SU hobby
demo and an equal opportunity stamper: I use what I like! When I'm not paper crafting I
enjoy going to concerts and spending time with friends and family.

Visit Ryann's Blog HERE!

Throughout the month of November, we'll have the privilege of welcoming Jessica Russell on as the 7th Six Chick! :)

I'm so excited to be the 7th Six Chick for November!! I love to read, quilt, write poetry, hike, and stamp (obviously). I have been stamping for about 14 years. I can't really describe my style, but I know it is mine. I love creating cards and gifts for my friends and family. I enjoy the creative process, and usually don't think my projects are complete until I add some ribbon or some bling, possibly both! I have to say that I have NEVER enjoyed creating cards and projects as much as I do right now. Using new stamps and supplies has infused me with a creative energy and enthusiasm that I have been missing for some time! Of course, part of that enthusiasm is coming from my new baby boy, Isaac, who is a much-longed for blessing! He will be a year old on November 9th! I stamp during one of his nap times every day! My husband and I have been married for nearly 8 years. I am a firm believer that we are capable of shaping our lives to be exactly the way we want. That is one reason why I recently took a leave of absence from my teaching job to embark on a new an exciting career as a stay at home mom and stamper!

Cake and Ice Cream

Just a quick post today...Still not feeling all better. :( Thanks to everyone for the well wishes! As it turns out, I had a flare-up of Colitis (they think it is colitis, anyway!) , and then I've had vertigo from an inner ear viral thing for the past few days. I'm really dizzy still, but I DO have some medicine finally! I am still nursing our daughter, so it's hard to find anything I can take! Anyway, thanks for caring and letting me know! :) Means the world to me, really!

Now onto the card... Tomorrow is my mom's birthday, and this is the card I made for her. I used Doo Dads and Mix Up of Cuteness from Unity Stamp Co. for this card. I wanted to convey the "cake and ice cream" idea!!

I want to also update you on the DT call... we will be making final decisions TODAY! We are narrowing the designers down a little more, and then we'll be contacting new designers. So don't fret if you haven't heard from us...no one has! There's hope! ;)

Limelight Sketch #6

Every second Thursday, the wonderful Brandi Parshley introduces a fun new sketch challenge and product focus for us to play with! And today is Thursday! Yay!!

This week we're calling for you to get out your hardware!
That's right, put down the glitter for one day and get out some metallic elements for "manly" cards! Don't boo at me (or Brandi, since this is her idea)! ;)

We want to see brads, eyelets, spiral clips, ribbon slides, metal frames, even paper, or maybe some duct tape stickers!

There are lots of great products at Limelight to use, but if you don't have anything from Limelight, just use what you do have!

**Sketch and Product Challenge with a focus on hardware for cards for men.
**Uploads to SCS should have the keyword: LLPC006
**Post a link to your card over on MY BLOG (here) by Sunday night (Oct 19) to be entered in a random drawing to WIN duct tape stickers and a package each of the large black eyelet brads and the small gunmetal eyelet brads!

I apologize that I've been quite sick this week, so I have not yet created a sketch challenge card. I will hopefully be able to do that today and add in a card! :) I cannot wait to see what you come up with!

Unity Hubby Card Challenge!!!

So....After some good old fashioned BRIBERY, my wonderful husband agreed to participate in the Unity Hubby Card Challenge! And I have to say, he did a FANTASTIC job! Can you tell that a guy made this card?? He found things HE liked in my stash to incorporate into his card! What I love about his card...

1- He used Tony Stewart NASCAR paper, something HE loves! :) It should be about fun, right?
2- He used my 1/4" square punch on some white cardstock and created the "checkered flag" panel you see along the top! Wow, huh?!?
3- He used a Pig Tail to pop up the trophy!

4- He found an interesting way to size his papers to cut! He used the bone folder and scored his patterned paper based on its length in comparison to the cardstock base.
5- It was not as dreadful as he had expected. I JUST received an e-mail from him, and he says, AND I QUOTE, "I kinda do wanna make a card with the Duke paper." Duke Blue Devils, OF COURSE. Heehee!

So what do you think? ;) Let's leave Drew some PROPS for his cool card!

Stamps: A Dad of All Kinds, Middle School Madness. Ink: Palette Noir. Paper: Tony Stewart patterned paper (unsure of the source), Basic Black, GP White. Accessories: SU! Orange Marker (Pumpkin Pie, I think...), 1/4" Punch.

Wanna Help??

My good friend Jill is starting to make gift baskets through her company, Heavenly Blessed, and she also sells some of the basket fillers by themselves, too. One of the great products that she carries (EVERYTHING she sells is top-quality!) is BabyLegs. Now, I know, I know... BABYLEGS??? That just sounds gruesome, doesn't it? ;) Let me explain. BabyLegs are basically legwarmers for children! They are traditionally worn on the legs kind of like tights. They have two open ends, making it easy to change diapers and slip on and off. These are great for baby girl and boy legs. My son, however, likes to wear his BabyLegs on his arms, prolonging the use of his t-shirts. And he LOVES them. Requests them! We own several pairs of BabyLegs, and we use them nearly every day now.

Okay, so my title implies a way for us to HELP. This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and there is a new pair of Pink Ribbon BabyLegs. For every pair of Pink Ribbon BabyLegs purchased, the BabyLegs company will donate 10% of the proceeds to cancer research. But get this...Jill will also donate ANOTHER 10% on top of that!! And look how cute they are...

If you know Jill, like I do, you know that she has a tender heart and giving spirit. And she just loves children! So, naturally, she is taking this a step further. Jill would love to donate pairs of BabyLegs to a local children's hospital to be given to children who are cancer patients. Jill points out that BabyLegs are convenient for children in the hospital to wear, as they are often hooked up to IV's and having medical procedures. Clever. She has comprised a list of BabyLegs styles to from which to choose, and for every TWO pairs that you purchase to donate, Jill and Heavenly Blessed will donate ONE MORE pair! As if this wasn't good enough, the BabyLegs company has heard about what Jill is doing, and if 100 pairs are donated, they will MATCH those 100 pairs!! :) Be sure to donate and pick up a pair or two for your little ones as well!

On top of this, I was thinking that it would be wonderful if we, as papercrafters, could create cards to include with the donated BabyLegs. Don't you think??? Not only would each child receive a new pair of BabyLegs, but they would also receive a super gorgeous, handstamped, made with love CARD to go along with it! Please do not sign cards on the inside, as Jill has plans for a special message for each card, but feel free to put your "Stamped by ....." sentiment on the back of the card! :) All cards will be mailed to me, and I'll get them to Jill. See below for details.

Okay...Thanks for reading all of this! Here are all of the details for purchasing and following through!

CLICK HERE TO VIEW JILL'S SELECTION OF BABYLEGS AT HEAVENLY BLESSED!

CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE BABYLEGS THAT MAY BE DONATED, ALONG WITH ALL OF HER "HELP FIGHT CANCER" DETAILS! All orders must be received by Wednesday, October 29! JILL'S E-MAIL ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER ARE ON THIS INFO SHEET! CONTACT HER TO ORDER.

TO DONATE A CARD, E-MAIL ME AT MANDY@LIMELIGHTPAPERCRAFTS.COM FOR MY ADDRESS! All cards must be postmarked by Monday, November 10!

2 Reminders...

Hi everyone! Sorry I've not posted in a few days here! Long story made short....I had a flare-up of my Crohn's/Colitis issues and am still recovering! But I digress....

1. Don't forget about our design team call!! You have through tomorrow, October 15, to apply! I am so excited about everyone who has applied! What great talent! It sure will be tough to make our decisions! :) If you are on the fence about applying.... Take a hint from Nike and JUST DO IT! Ha! You know you will NOT be chosen if you do not apply. Just put yourself out there! :) You never do know...

2. On sale this week at Limelight is the new Piggy Tales product called Sliding Doors! The doors slide side to side to reveal hidden space underneath for additional scrapbooking. Sold in a variety pack, for a total of 6 different chipboard shapes per package. Also perfect for Christmas photo ornaments! These are 20% off this week only, so be sure to take advantage of the sale!! At only $4.79 per package of SIX Sliding Doors, these are a MUST-HAVE!!

Oh, and keep a lookout for new products coming this week (Kaisercraft albums and embellishments and Core'dinations BLACK MAGIC cardstock!!!)!

Greetings...Of the Seasonal Sort!

I love Cathrine's Berry Branch (along with the wreath that matches!) because it is so elegant and simple! I embossed it here with Silver EP and accented it with Christmas Red Stickles to achieve a "Christmas elegant" type of card. I mounted the main image on WorldWin Silver Ore Petallics cardstock...you wouldn't BELIEVE the shimmer of that stuff! ( And...if you are interested, we have the MATCHING Silver Ore Envelopes, too!) I stamped the Odd Bird Planet sentiment underneath in Real Red Ink. I actually used "Seasonings Greetings" but I masked the "seasonings" part! :) It just didn't seem to fit here...

Hope you are having a happy day!

All the COOL Kids are Doin' It...

It's the newest use for scrapbooking supplies... FAUX BODY PIERCING!!! (Yes, it's a rhinestone!)

What do you think, Emma? Cameron DOES adore you... ;)

Trick-or-Treat

Thank you to everyone for wishing me a happy birthday! Thanks to Jill, Emma, and JenMarie for the handmade cards!! :) So sweet! Just want to share a quick card with you that I made on Saturday for AJ's SCS sketch challenge! I only got to do two... Bummer! The first was an example for my Odd Bird Planet WCMD challenge.

We are going to visit my parents today. Mom was in the hospital while they were on vacation with a really bad stomach illness. They're getting back home today FINALLY (and Mom is MUCH better), so we're gonna go try to help out. Cameron and Katy ARE excited to go see their grandparents! :)

Stamps: NC's Jack-o-Lantern (Odd Bird Planet). Paper: Basic Black, Elegant Eggplant, Flair Spellbound Collection Patterned Paper. Ink: Palette Noir. Accessories: Copics, Black Satin Ribbon, Flair Spellbound Collection Cardstock Stickers (the frame and "buttons").

Have a FANTASTIC day!!!
