A SPOOKY Treat Jar

You know how it is when you create something, and it turns out JUST like you'd imagined? This was one of those projects! I was so excited and inspired when I saw the Spooky line by Pebbles, Inc. that I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do with that Target Archer Farms snack jar I'd been saving. :)

I "sewed" 2-inch squares of alternating double-sided papers together with black satin ribbon in "x" shapes all the way around the jar. I then cut a circle out of one of my scraps of patterned paper and affixed a Spooky sticker (Trick or Treat) to the center of the circle. I then decided the jar needed a tag to have a finished look to it. I cut a square out of another scrap of the patterned paper and cut the corners using the Tag Corner Punch by SU!. I used yet another couple of scraps to mat the Haunted House and Spooky stickers, and popped them up on the tag using foam tape. And what is contained in this cute Halloween jar, you ask? Well...
A mixture of the Candy Corn and new Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses!!! YUM! I think this jar makes the perfect treat jar or even gift. I wanted to give it to my mom, who always kept a great treat jar at work. But I'm struggling with GIVING it away now... ;)

Paper: Spooky Circles/Black Swirls, Spooky Stripes/Orange Dots. Accessories: Spooky Stickers, Foam Tape, Assorted Ribbons, Hershey Kisses.

Flourish Wreaths!

I just adore these justjohanna Flourish Wreaths! I had to have the Holly Flourish Wreath after falling in love with my Harvest Flourish Wreath! And then when Cathrine's Berry Wreath came out.... Well, you see what happened. ;)

These are fun to color and have such an elegant look to them, don't you think? And I LOVE the sparkle of the Silver Ore paper used on the Berry Wreath card. I love that the photo actually CAPTURED the beauty of the shimmer! :)

It's Here.....

SPOOKY papers and stickers are in the LIMELIGHT!!!

Gnome on Skates!

It seems that gnomes are EVERYWHERE in the papercrafting world, so why not on ice skates?!? I think this little guy is SO cute! He kind of looks like Santa with the Liquid Applique beard, doesn't he? ;) The Skating Gnome that faces the right is available unmounted at Limelight Papercrafts.

We have a shipment coming from Pebbles, Inc. today! I'll have to share some of those goodies with you later! We are carrying the line of Spooky patterned paper and accessories. I know this line is just going to FLY off of the shelves, so get yours soon for use on your Halloween and Fall projects! :) I have a project in mind for this paper, myself! I'll be making a treat container with it. ;)

Also related to the Pebbles shipment, we are getting in some new "extras"! If you've ordered from Limelight before, you know that each order comes packed neatly in lime green tissue paper and includes a handmade card (usually by yours truly...) and a few extras. Up until now, I've included a few little tags as extras. Well, starting today, until we run out, each order will receive a sheet of themed stickers. After we run out, don't worry.... We have more in store for you! It's just always nice to get a little surprise, isn't it? ;)

Stamps: Kelly's Skating Gnome. Paper: Night of Navy, Ballet Blue, GP White, Vellum. Ink: Black. Accessories: Copic Markers, Liquid Applique, Rain Drops Snowflake Stickers.

Spooky Spider...and an Award

I'm really not much of a Halloween person, but in recent years, I've really enjoyed creating with the fun spooky images. There are just so many possibilities! :) I really love this spider and web from Odd Bird Planet. How cute and simple! I combined these fun new stamps with another card technique I like to use. I created the circle card out of these Waste Not Paper 5 1/2" circle cardstock pieces. I like to score the top circle at about an inch or so, then adhere the scored section to the bottom of the card base. Then it opens up and functions beautifully as a circle card!
I am so excited to now be carrying Stampendous! Disco Black Embossing Powder in the store. I couldn't wait until it arrived, so I did create my own using Black and Holographic Highlights embossing powders. I made a mess with the black and glitter creating my own, so I'm glad Disco Black is here! But it worked none the same... :) Here is a closeup of the sparkly spider...

I also received a Javablu Award!! Hooray! The super-cool thing about this award is that it was actually CREATED by Ms. Javablu herself! That's right; Jacquie MADE this award! :) Here are the rules...

1. The winner can put the logo on their blog.
2. Link the person you received your award from.
3. Nominate at least 5 other blogs.

4.Before listing the nominees give a brief reason why you chose them.
5. Put links of those blogs on yours.
6. Leave a message on the blogs you have nominated

The following people will be the recipients of the Javablu award. I have to limit to five today because I am short on time! ACK!

1. Jennifer - Oh My Cuppycake - Her creations just make me smile!!

3. Jill - Heavenly Blessed - Jill and I have been close friends for a long time! We actually went to high school together, although we didn't really hang out until college! She is great at making cards, and she is expanding her cardmaking business to include custom gift baskets! If you are needing gift baskets to celebrate a new baby (or a new mommy!), Christmas, birthdays, ANYTHING, then Jill is the chick to see! She is working on transitioning to the expanded line...Stay tuned! www.heavenly-blessed.com

Odd Bird Planet TRUNK SHOW

Are you in the southern California area? Well, Johanna (yes, THE Johanna of justjohanna!!) will be live-in-person at Auntie Amy’s rubber stamp store in Riverside, California, from 10AM to 6PM on Saturday for a trunk show. There will be FREE make and takes all day and a free pack of paper with every purchase. Johanna will have some of the just-released images with her, as well as a sneak peek of the upcoming holiday images. If you’re in the Southern California area, don’t miss this event. And if you are going, I am SO jealous! Let us know how much FUN you have!!

Swirly Tree

I fell in love with this tree image by Odd Bird Planet the moment I saw it! I've been on a trees kick lately, perhaps with the autumn season quickly creeping up on us! Kelly's Tree is the perfect little whimsical tree for creating a scene for your creatures, and it's also perfect left alone.

What I love about this card is the way the patterned papers match so well!! I was using some scrap Christmas paper I had lying around. Green swirly Christmas paper with sort of a gold iridescent sheen to it. I thought the swirls would look perfect with the swirly-looking tree. Then I pulled out my SU! Apple Cider patterned papers, thinking I'd use it for a background or something, and I noticed the brown paper's swirls. The two papers look like they came from the same line! I love it when things match up like that!

Hope you enjoy the card! And don't forget that you have until Sunday at midnight to participate in the Limelight Sketch Challenge. Well, you can play along after then, but you won't be eligible for the prize! SEE THIS POST FOR DETAILS!!

Stamps: Kelly's Tree, Happy Birthday (Whimsy) (OBP). Paper: Bazzill Basics Parakeet, Basic Black, SU! Apple Cide DP, GP White. Ink: Palette Noir. Accessories: Pop-up Dots, Yellow Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Bronze Kaisercraft Rhinestones.

Ladies in the Limelight Sketch Challenge #2

Happy Thursday! Today is another "Ladies in the Limelight" sketch and product challenge! Today's sketch is below and the challenge is to use rub-ons or stickers! If you have rub-ons or stickers from Limelight, awesome! If not, feel free to play along with what you have in your stash! (Psst: Rub-ons are on sale at Limelight!)

I had the best time creating for this sketch challenge! This was really my first time using rub-ons (*gasp!*), and I am in love! These Glitz Rub-ons were SO easy to use. Even I didn't make a mistake!!! And the best part? Start-to-finish...this card took about 10 minutes. That includes getting out supplies!!

Let me tell you about my card. I made this one for my husband. You know how 1-4-3 is supposed to be code for "I love you"? That's the idea that I used to tie this card together! There is a reason I made this for my husband (besides the obvious...); we were married on January 4, 2003 (01-04-03...1-4-3). We didn't mean to do that, but, hey! It works!

Stamps: Fabulous Flowers. Paper: Soft Sky, WorldWin Petallics Silver Ore, Rose Red, Basic Grey Euphoria DP. Ink: Soft Sky. Accessories: Glitz Doodle It Borders ABC 123 Rub-ons, Pop Up Dots, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Scallop Punch, Soft Pink Kaisercraft Rhinestones.

Now it is your turn! I will choose one of the submissions (randomly!) to win our two new sheets of Pink Paislee Holly Doodle Alphabet Stickers, in Green Lace and Chocolate! Enter your card by submitting a comment and a link to your card or online gallery on this post. All entries must be submitted by Sunday, August 24 at midnight to be eligible for the prize. If you upload to SCS please use keyword: LLPC002 so we can all view your creations!

Be sure to check out the wonderful cards created by the Limelight Design Team:

Guess What, Cupcake??

Hey There, Cupcake is back in the Limelight!! Hooray! Several of you have asked me when we'd get these back in stock, and the box from Stampendous arrived today! I am actually buried underneath a pile of stamps, glitter, and Fun Flock!!! I know, POOR ME! Don't you just envy me?? ;) I am working on getting the **NEW** Stampendous stamps (Christmas, etc.) into the system.

I just entered LOTS of unmounted justjohanna's Odd Bird Planet stamps in... These are great, too! You get the fun, whimsical style of Odd Bird Planet in an easy-to-store unmounted stamp, and you save a little dough to boot! The unmounted stamps all begin with the word UNMOUNTED in their title, so scroll down to see them!

OBP August Special Deal

Who doesn't love a special deal? Johanna has another one here for you! The regular price for all five of these great stamps would be $37, but for the month of August, you can purchase them together for only $27.75!!

Click here to purchase the August Special Deal!

Lauren's Saturday Sketch

I also participated in Lauren's Saturday sketch, and I LOVE the card I came up with! We've been feeling the upcoming Fall/Halloween season here, so I went with that and used some BRAND NEW images from justjohanna's Odd Bird Planet! Some must-have images, if you ask me! I actually used Martha Stewart Black Glitter to outline the web and accent the spider, but it's not a very sunny day here so I had trouble picking it up! :( Either way, I'm still super-happy with this card. Thanks for the fun sketch, Lauren! :)

Stamps: Boo To You, Teresa's Spider, Kelly's Regular Spider Web. Paper: Lovely Lilac, Basic Black, Only Orange, GP White. Ink: Palette Noir, Brilliance Graphite Black. Accessories: Tombow Glue Pen, Martha Stewart Black Glitter, Black Kaisercraft Rhinestone, Heidi Swapp Paper Distresser, Corner Rounder Punch.

Taylor's Sketch

I decided to participate in a couple of sketches this weekend, and this is the card I made for Taylor's Cupcake Sketch #29. I kept it very simple, using this cupcake image from the Hero Arts Cupcakes clear set. I simply added Diamond Stickles to the frosting on each cake (the papers are colored in Copics) and added a candle and "yum" sentiment to the center circle. Very quick and simple, and it'll be great to have to send out as a birthday card!

Stamps: Hero Arts Cupcakes. Paper: Marigold Morning, GP White, Pretty in Pink, Basic Grey Blush. Ink: Palette Noir. Accessories: Copics, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Diamond Stickles, Pop Dots.

Thanks to Jennifer (JenMarie) for this uber cool limeade card! Gotta love the lime!

And how about this totally fun spring card by Brandi?? I HAVE to try this technique! She had me at "it pops up"!!!

SCS Sketch Challenge!

I used Be the Change for another card, a sketch challenge on SCS. I just love this image!! Have I said that already? ;) Anyway, I used sketch challenge 189 to make this card. Hope you like it! I wanted to keep it simple, so I just embellished with a few bronze Kaisercraft rhinestones. Hope you are having a happy Saturday!

And speaking of sketch challenges, be sure to check in here and on Brandi's blog on Thursday for the next installment of the Limelight Papercrafts Sketch Challenge! This challenge is LOTS of fun, and there will be another prize awarded to a random participant of the challenge! You can't lose... a fun sketch to get the wheels turning AND a chance to win a prize! :) So, see you Thursday?

Stamps: Be the Change (Unity). Paper: Waste Not Paper Chocolate (recycled), Basic Grey Urban Couture, Very Vanilla. Ink: Chocolate Chip. Accessories: Kaisercraft Bronze Rhinestones, Heidi Swapp Paper Distresser.

Click here to see the Trick or Treat clear stamp set! I think the image that reads "The Pumpkin Patch" would be so PERFECT for scrapbooking those pumpkin-picking adventures this fall!

Click here to see a paper pack (including OWLS!!) and alphabet stickers in Chocolate and Green Lace! The Green Lace stickers actually look like they have pinkish polka dots on them. They are SO CUTE!!

Be the Change

I LOVE this quote from Ghandi that says "Be the change you wish to see in the world." All too often, we complain about what is wrong or philosophize about how people should act, but we don't take the action ourselves. This stamp is a single unmounted stamp from Unity Stamp Company, and I LOVE IT! It is big enough for a focal image, and it retails for ONLY $4! You really can't beat that. We carry this Be the Change stamp as well as lots of other unmounted stamps from Unity at Limelight Papercrafts! Click here to see the Unity Stamps!

I made this card using Waste Not Paper Chocolate recycled card stock. This is such a rich color, and it makes a great card base! I have two patterned papers from the Basic Grey Sultry collection behind the main image. There are Soft Pink Kaisercraft Rhinestones in the divide between the two papers.

Hope you enjoy this card! I was really happy with the way it turned out!

Stamps: Be the Change (Unity). Paper: WNP Chocolate, BG Sultry, Very Vanilla. Ink: Chocolate Chip. Accessories: Kaisercraft Soft Pink Rhinestones, Prima Flower.

Christmas "Gift" Card

Is it too early to be thinking about Christmas? I think not... I hope not! For us, the Christmas season this year will be even more full. We had our daughter, Katy, on December 20 last year! We went home from the hospital two days before Christmas! So we will, from now on, be celebrating a birthday then, too. If you have a Christmastime birthday, or a child with one, and have any suggestions for how to celebrate, fun ideas, etc., please share them! :) I taught a student a few years ago whose birthday was on Christmas day, and they put up a special BIRTHDAY TREE for her each year, in addition to the normal Christmas tree! How fun!

Stamps: just for you (justjohanna). Ink: Real Red, Garden Green. Paper: Very Vanilla, Flair Christmas patterned paper. Accessories: Cranberry Grosgrain Ribbon, Hemp Twine, Tag Punch.

Rainbow Row?

I wanted to come up with a card using this really cute house from Odd Bird Planet without having to color in the houses. I LOVE coloring, but it's nice to try new things with the same stamps, ya know? I decided to stamp the house in NINE colors and accent with coordinating colors of Stickles. A card isn't a card without a little sparkle, after all. ;) I used this Basic Grey paper from the Color Me Silly line to continue the multicolored, whimsical feel. This card would be perfect for a housewarming or even a just-because card to have on hand! Hope you are finishing up a wonderful weekend!

Stamps: Short House Mini. Paper: BG Color Me Silly, Basic Black, GP White. Ink: Various. Accessories: Various Stickles.
