7th Six Chick for June
We are so sad to say goodbye to Amy Tsuruta, our 7th Six Chick for May! But in doing that, we say a big HELLO to Nikki Tanner, our 7th Six Chick for the month of June! Welcome, Nikki! We are so glad to have you! :) Be sure to check out Nikki's blog...her cards are sure to knock your socks off!
Here's a little bit about Nikki:
I'm a SAHM of 2 wild & crazy little boys, 3 if you count husbands! I have always loved crafty things thanks to my Granny and all of the afternoons after school and summers I spent with her growing up. My love of papercrafts began with scrapbooking when my first son was born, and then I went to my first Stampin' Up! workshop and it was on! I love all things paper and totally believe there is nothing more special or unique than giving a card or gift you've made yourself! I'm amazed by the talent of the DT and I'm so honored to be the 7th Six Chick this month!
I will be back in a little bit to announce the winner of the free bottle of Shimmerz Spritz! One random person will be selected from those who entered by sharing on their blogs (or with their friends elsewhere!) about the Limelight Anniversary Celebration!
I'll also be back FIRST THING tomorrow with LOTS of goodies!!! First, my Limelight anniversary sketch is scheduled to go live at midnight EDT! I will be hosting an activity that you can participate in to win some great prizes! I'll have links up for all of our DT gals, along with a few friends of Limelight, who will ALL be offering up prizes as well!! There are 14 activities in all, which means there are 14 prizes to give away this week!!! Don't worry if you cannot be here during the day tomorrow... We know people have to work! Most of our games, etc. will be up for at least a couple of days. I will also be sharing a shopping discount code for the store! Hooray!
Also, we will announce our winner of the sketch challenge in the morning when I get up (a little earlier than usual), so it's important that you get your card linked tonight!! :)

Happy Saturday. :) Hope you are having a great day of relaxation and fun! We enjoyed seeing our close friends' sweet little girl Emily dancing in her first ballet recital. Oh, my goodness, was it CUTE! :) Now I'm enjoying some girl time with my sweet Katy... But it'll be short-lived. The boys are out for the evening, so Katy will be going to bed in an hour so I can enjoy some mommy time!! Rubber stamps, here I come!!
I wanted to share this card with you. It's a simple card that comes together quickly when you HAVE to have a card five minutes ago! I once again used my new Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, and I punched out the Basic Grey Lime Rickey paper. A few Silver Rhinestones, and we're done! :)
So...you know about Monday, right? It's Limelight's first ANNIVERSARY! We opened the doors to our store June 1, 2008! Be right here for games and giveaways! TONS of giveaways!! Stamps, paper pads, Shimmerz... Even I am excited, and I can't even win!! LOL! Well, there is more to the story now... We have new product arriving on Monday! Something I think you will love...

Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge: Patterned Paper!
You do it. I do it. We ALL do it. And we all know it.
That's right... We ALL hoard our patterned paper! We are afraid of not having our papers once we use them! And we, therefore, all need that push to get us to share the patterned joy with others through our handmade cards! Today is another installment of the Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge, and we want you to USE that patterned paper! The lovely Lee Murphy has created another sketch for us, and what a perfect sketch it is for using your favorite papers!
I created an anniversary card for some friends. We have LOTS of anniversaries coming up in June! The die cut pieces are all quite glittery in real life, but it's VERY hard for me to capture on a rainy day here! I created a shimmery, textured-looking background on the Going Gray cardstock by spritzing my brand new Shimmerz Spritz in Baby's Breath all over it! Gorgeous! Boy, is it ever shimmery! I love that you can even see the shimmer in the photograph!!
Paper: Going Gray, Crate Papers Mia - Sparkle, Water Lilies, and Whirl. Ink: Cat's Eye Wisteria (for inking the LOVE letters...ON SALE THIS WEEK!), White Craft (for inking the edge of the butterfly). Accessories: Crate Paper Mia Glitter Die Cuts, Shimmerz Spritz - Baby's Breath, Basic Grey Piper Micro Chip ABC's - White Chocolate
The Details:

Buttons for Baby
Baby cards are so much fun! I mean, REALLY. The cute colors, the sweet little images, buttons! :) I created this card for a couple in our small group class who are expecting their little baby boy to be born any time now! I know they can't wait! I remember the anticipation before Cameron and Katy were born... and especially the anticipation before the first one! It's hard to wait for the time for a baby to be born. It's SUCH a big deal, and we don't really like to be out of control of things, do we? ;) But God always works the details out just right according to His purpose. I would not change anything about the births of our two kiddos. Even Cameron's birth...as painful and LONG as that was!! I learned so much through it, and now it's just a beautiful memory.
But I digress... Hee hee! I made this card quickly by layering a piece of Basic Grey Marrakech patterned paper onto Chocolate Chip cardstock. I then made another "layer" of buttons instead of paper. These are the Marrakech Buttons as well. Love that line...those colors are so rich! I stamped the whale from Mix Up of Cuteness onto Kraft cardstock and popped it up on pop dots. A splash of Waterfall Stickles on the droplets above the whale's spout, and done!
I'll be posting some BIG NEWS on the blog (and through the newsletter) in a few minutes! Stay tuned! :) You will want to be here for a big event!!

Happy Birthday to Ken!
I love a simple birthday card. And I love a simple birthday card with a few interesting elements included, too! This card was a cinch to pull together, and I love the bright colors, the pop of the rub-on behind the sentiment, the little rhinestones, and the contrast of the white chipboard lettering! This card will be given to our good friend Ken tonight! Today is his birthday, and since his wife Lorie's birthday is this Friday, we are getting together to celebrate BOTH birthdays! What fun!
Paper: Kraft, Basic Grey Lime Rickey. Ink: White Craft (for inking the edges). Accessories: Lime Rickey Rub-ons, Yellow Rhinestones, Piper Micro Chip ABC's - White Chocolate, Orange Rhinestone.

Live
Happy Saturday, everyone!! As long as the sun holds out, we will be spending the day at the pool, or at least enjoying the outside somehow! We have a few errands that I'd like to get done today...we'll see how that goes! Drew is working today, but he gets Sunday through Tuesday off, so we still get our three-day weekend, just a day late!
This is a VERY small card. Only 2.5" square! I love including this tiny cards as thank you cards in each Limelight Papercrafts order! In order to make all of them, I must choose very simple designs, and I also need to make it economical...thus the small size. ;) But you know what? Even besides that, I really LOVE making this size card!
I used my Martha Stewart Butterfly punch again. LOVIN' that. Why, oh why, did I not purchase it sooner?? I actually used the Basic Grey Lime Rickey paper pad to punch these butterflies! I added Blue and Yellow rhinestones to the bodies to finish them off. The sentiment is actually from the Fifth Avenue Florals... I masked the stamp to get just the one word. I think it turned out cute. ;)
What are you up to today? Be sure to squeeze in some SHOPPING! Not only are 12x12 Basic Grey patterned paper sheets 50% off and Prima items 25% off, but we JUST yesterday got SIX NEW Prima items in stock and our clearance section has undergone FURTHER markdowns! Almost ALL of our cardstock (which now includes the Core'dinations and Double Mates) is MORE than 50% off! Stock up before they are all gone!

I Am Helped
This Monday, a friend of mine from high school passed away. He graduated a couple of years after I did, but we went to church together and were good friends. He died at the age of 26 because of Cystic Fibrosis and other complications. We are praying especially for his wife (whom I have not met) during this time. This is NOT a tragedy, although the world would have us see it that way. No, instead, this is a victory! You see, my friend did not live a life of regret...he knew Jesus and made him known! There is no question of his salvation, and there is therefore no tragedy in this story.
We've had lots of needs for sympathy cards in the past couple of weeks, sadly enough, and this is one that I made a few of. I used the Wisteria paper pad from Basic Grey for the butterflies and the background strips of paper. I used my brand new Martha Stewart butterfly punch (you may get sick of seeing it in the next few days!!) and the new Basic Grey pearls in Lilac/Violet. I thought this sentiment from the Something Within set by Unity Stamp Company would be PERFECT!
Hope you have a wonderful day! Happier cards in the next few days... ;)

Wedding Day
It's our good friends' Jay and Elizabeth's wedding day! We are so excited to share in their day by attending their wedding today. Now I do have a confession to make to you about the wedding cards I make. I make the same style wedding card for EVERY wedding I go to! You see, I rarely find wedding stamps I like, which was how my template for this card erupted. I like it. It's simple, easy, you can add more style or detail to the card if you'd like, and you can even make it trendy with sashes or pops of color! So this is the wedding card. :) THE wedding card.
I shopped for their gift off of their registry. I knew exactly what to choose when I saw that they had registered for a "cupcake pan"! :) I bought an inexpensive 12-pack of washcloths, rolled them to make them look like cupcakes, and pinned these red-wrapped Lindt chocolates to the centers to be the cherries on top! It turned out cute, I think! Of course included with this pan are some of their oven mitts, some fun cupcake liners and SPRINKLES!!
Hope you have a wonderful day! Don't forget to place your $35 or more order at Limelight Papercrafts to receive a FREE jar of Shimmerz (your choice!). And please play along with our Sketch and Product Challenge...you could win some free TULLE!

Six Chicks Sketch #21 - Tulles of the Trade!
Good Thursday morning, everyone! It's time for another Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge! And this week, the focus is on TULLE! Tulle is one of my FAVORITE cardmaking items, and I am sad to see that it's not more widely used. In fact, some of you may not have any tulle *gasp!*. Well, we want to change that by giving away some tulle to one lucky winner! And for this challenge, if you don't have tulle, don't worry! Use another ribbon, lace, cloth....or even a tulle skirt image! OR...skip the tulle all together. We still want to see what you can do with this sketch!
Paper: Lime Rickey 6x6 Paper Pad, Pink Fairy (Washboard Texture by Bazzill), Beetle Black (Criss Cross Texture by Bazzill), White. Accessories: Designer Rhinestones - Cupcake (Basic Grey...brand NEW!), Kaisercraft Red Rhinestones, Raven Tulle, Pixie Dust Blingz Shimmerz.
For my card, I incorporated several economical choices for card making! Of course you'll notice that the main image is a BRAND SPANKIN' NEW Designer Rhinestone design from Basic Grey! Their new Opaline (pearl) and Bling It (rhinestone) lines are designed to be inexpensive...only $1.79 per item! And we all know that the Kaisercraft rhinestones are an economical choice as well! Also, I used some Bazzill papers which are on CLEARANCE at Limelight! All open stock cardstock is on clearance. We had a LOT of cardstock, so LOTS are still available! I also used Tulle, which retails for a mere 26 cents per yard! And trust me, you can use this stuff ANYWHERE! I finished with some Pixie Dust Blingz on two edges of my black layer for a silvery, shimmery touch. This jar of Shimmerz is only $3.89, but if you spend $35 or more, you can have it for FREE!
The Details:
**Use the sketch provided and think TULLE! You can CERTAINLY be flexible with your interpretation of tulle, and you may definitely skip it if you don't have any!! In fact, we hope you win if you do not have tulle....because we'll get to send you some! :)
**Key word for SCS upload is LLPC021.
**Post a comment with a link to your card right here on this post by Sunday, May 17th, at midnight (or before winner is drawn Monday a.m.).
**PRIZE ~ Five yards of tulle of the winner's choice!(Winner is chosen randomly from all participants.)

Daisy Doodles WINNER
Wow, I sure learned a LOT in the past few days! LOL! I will announce the winner of the Daisy Doodles, and then I'll share a few of my favorites!
The winner is lucky number 27.... ALEX! Alex, I have your addy, and I'll get the flowers out your way!!Here's Alex's trivia (I LOVED this!):
Alex said...What gorgeous flowers, I just love them!! So bright and fun!! I need to go and check out the rest of what you guys got in....you are killin' me, girl!!! Heehee, well, let's see, here is a little known fact that ALL women should know about: Every time you lick a stamp, you're consuming 1/10 of a calorie....LOL!
And a few more favorites...
Joann said... I always love some of the outdated laws, for instance di you know it is against the law to whale hunt in Oklahoma...........
Jackie said... Just one thing I learned from Charlie Brown - Triskadekaphobia is the fear of the number 13. My childhood was not completely wasted :-)
Janice M said... Did you know if you cut a lemon in half and put sugar on it you can use it to exfoliate the bottom of your feet??!! Just read that this past week in a booklet from the local grocery store, I want to try it sometime!
BishopsMommie said... our climate is in fact continually changing, and the cause is not and could not be CO2. CO2 accounts for less than 3% of all greenhouse gases, and only 6% of atmospheric CO2 is produced by human activity.

That means that less than 2/1,000 of all CO2 is produced by human activity. So even if we wiped out every car, power plant, jet liner, and human being from the face of the earth, there would be no noticeable effect on global CO2 levels.
Elizabeth said... Ok this one is very random but heard it on TV today- Did you know baby penguins are born with no sex. The only devlope to be Male or female when fully grown! They also asorb the egg yoke to help to with nuretriation untile they are a few days old and able to eat on their own. It's All About BABIES!
I cannot believe the 6th of the month is upon us once again, but I am so glad it is! Here at Limelight, we like to present you with a themed project on the 6th, and this month's theme is BABIES! The design team was challenged to make a gift and card for either a new baby or new mama! You will, as always, be blown away! Be sure to check my sidebar links for our Six Chicks and Seventh Six Chick (guest) creations!
I made a card inspired by recent shopping trips with my little Katy! So many of the cute little baby dresses have ruffles, crossover tops, and -of course- varying shades of pink! I actually used Easter Time Flowers/Pink Dot patterned paper for the dress, and I used Pink Satin Center Ruffle ribbon for the edging.
Coming any day now is our shipment from October Afternoon! We will have the new Cherry Hill and Ducks in a Row (baby!) 8x8 paper pads and an assortment of embellishments. Stay tuned for more information on these!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Cameron!
Today is Cameron's third birthday! We cannot believe he is three years old already! We are so thankful to God for entrusting us with such a wonderful young man to raise and to love! I made this cupcake card to give him today, which is a CASE of Teri Anderson's adorable cupcake card on page 52 of the May/June Paper Crafts magazine! I just knew this card would make him smile! He did, however, ask if it was a FRUIT STRIP when I gave it to him. (Really, Cam? A fruit strip??) Anyway...here are a few pictures from yesterday's adventures... DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT OUR LIMELIGHT SKETCH AND PRODUCT CHALLENGE HERE! YOU COULD WIN KAISERCRAFT PEARLS!!!
