fridayfillin.gif

1. My stomach is in knots thinking about doing an announcement in front of church tomorrow!
2. Dessert ;) is what I ate the most of on Thursday.
3. The yard totally rocks. (Um, yeah. That's all I have to say about the YARD.)
4. My stamp desk is where I'd rather be at any given time.
5. The smell of cinnamon reminds me of Christmas!
6. More hours in the day is what I need right now!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to SLEEP, tomorrow my plans include spending time with my family and Sunday, I want to go to church!

Peace

Good message in the midst of holiday shopping, don't you think? PEACE.

Where's Turkey Lurkey?

In true Where's Waldo style, I present to you "Where's Turkey Lurkey"? :) Just a little post-turkey fun.... Enjoy!

Can you find Turkey Lurkey?

Six Chicks Challenge #9

While some of us are busy pouring gravy all over our turkey and mashed potatoes, I know there are an equal number of people out there who are poring over the Black Friday sales ads! I can hear them shouting "Bring on the sales!". They must have been listening over at Limelight, because not only do they have some awesome sales scheduled for Black Friday, they also have a challenge focusing on all things black! How easy is that?! Anything black will do, although, I recommend the Black Magic cardstock, black licorice Pixee Stix glitter, or black fun flock! If you don't have anything from Limelight, PLEASE, go ahead and play along anyways!

Sketch and Product Challenge using black for Black Friday!

  • Uploads to SCS should have the keyword: LLPC009
  • Participants should post a comment and a link to their card on THIS blog by Sunday, November 30th, at midnight
  • All entries will be entered into a random drawing for a $10 Limelight Papercrafts Gift Certificate!
My card features Core'dinations Black Magic cardstock in Amulet. What a beautiful blue color that shows through the sanded black coating, huh? ;) I love it! This paper is so much fun to work with! I used the Pink Paislee Tinsel Town clear stamps for the snowflake. :) Oh, and that's a large Ice Blue rhinestone on the knotted tulle! I actually started this card out following the layout orientation of the sketch, but I set it down for a minute after finishing it, and I just LOVED it sideways! But for you purists, here ya go... ;)

Stamps: Pink Paislee Tinsel Town. Cardstock: Core'dinations Black Magic Amulet, GP White. Ink: Bashful Blue, Adirondack Pitch Black. Accessories: Raven Tulle, Ice Blue Rhinestones, Pewter Pearls.

A Pink Aluminum Christmas Tree

For some reason, the Pink Paislee Tinsel Town collection reminds me of Lucy from Peanuts saying that she wants a pink aluminum Christmas tree!!! So it should come as no surprise that I stamped this Christmas tree in Pixie Pink ink!!! :) I love the funky combination of colors in this line, and this card just makes me happy!

You know how you often have to sand clear acrylic stamps to get a good impression with dye inks? Well, you do NOT have to do that with the Pink Paislee stamps! YAY! I was so thrilled to get a perfect image the FIRST time! :) We have the Tinsel Town clear stamp set at Limelight, as well as the Sweet Cakes stamp set, which matches those super scrumptious papers!!

We have quite a busy day ahead of us! My parents are coming today to spend the holiday with us (we do Thanksgiving dinner at our house...love doing that!) and we have a community Thanksgiving service at our church tonight! I am making pizza (and the moderately easy tomato sauce..yum!) for dinner, plus a fun new recipe I found in Family Fun magazine for the service tonight. I may share a recipe with you later, depending on how it turns out! I am also planning on making Cranberry Lemon scones for Thanksgiving morning, and I want to make the dough ahead of time and freeze them...hopefully I can get that done today, too! I got the recipe from Smitten Kitchen, of course, and they are SO yummy! Believe it or not, I think they are better as leftovers the NEXT DAY! You can find that scone recipe here. Oh, and if you try this recipe, I DID use fresh cranberries (for the first time) and they were SO perfect.

TECC 43

Well, we are getting ready to go see Twilight!! :) I won't share right away how it is.....that way everyone has a chance to form their own opinion! I am sure it will be fun regardless to get a visual account of the story...and to go out with Drew! :)

I made this card using Taylor's sketch for this week. I think it turned out pretty well, and it was a fun sketch to work with. I absolutely LOVE this sentiment, "Jesus is the reason for the season." It's totally true, but it sure is easy to lose sight of with all of the fun and sparkle of the holidays! This stamp is only $3, making it even better! I used the super sticky tape for the glittery stripe along the bottom. Hard to tell in the photo, but there is a mint green rhinestone in the center of the snowflake/star.

Stamps: Jesus is the Reason, Snow Burst (SU!). Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi. Paper: Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi, GP White, Ding-a-Ling Diamonds (TaDa). Accessories: Sticky tape, Strawberry Pixee Stix, Mint Green Rhinestone.

Santa's Buckle

Hello! Hope you are having a fabulous start to your Friday! So...who all is going to see Twilight this weekend???? I'm going TWICE! Once with my husband (GASP! A date!!) on Saturday, and then on Sunday with some girlfriends whose hubbies have NO interest in going with them. My husband is the best!

Tonight I am leading a cardmaking night, primarily for the youth, at my church. We are making Christmas cards to be given with lapghans that one of the ministries in our church made for nursing home residents. We are making 100 cards tonight, but I have everything ready! :) This Santa card, using the Holiday Tag Team set from SU!, is one of the cards we will be making. I think it turned out really sparkly and cute! I accented all of the white on Santa, as well as the border on the black mat, with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I also pulled out my Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware for the buckle on the black satin ribbon. Looks like Santa's buckle, right? I love that part! I think this will be a good simple card, perfect for quick completion tonight.

She Lives!!

Yep, I am still alive! Just getting over being sick. ;) I have a fun card to share with you using my Urban Prairie 6x6 Paper Pad. I just LOVE those papers! The colors and patterns are so fun and INSPIRING!! Gotta love that!

I used Paisley Heart, Small Bracket Frame, Merci Birdcoop (masked the Birdcoop), and Noel's Zig Zag Stitch...all from Odd Bird Planet. Do you see the Zig Zag Stitch? I used it for faux stitching on my strips of patterned paper, to "sew" them together! I love the look! How clever is that stamp?? And Paisley Heart is one I use ALL the time. I just love it. You can't see it, but there are Gold Glimmer Blingz Shimmerz on that heart!! :)

I want to tell you that we are going to have one HUGE Black Friday Sale next weekend!! We are going to have some wonderful deals ALL week, plus special deals I was able to work with Pebbles, Inc., Angela from Unity Stamp Company, and Johanna from Odd Bird Planet! More details coming soon!!!!! But you CAN'T miss this sale!! :)

Need a Laugh??

Happy Monday!

Hope you are all starting your week off on a happy note! :) I've got my first sinusy/cold thing going on in a long time, but we're surviving!! I want to share another card with you, quite a simple one. Remember last week when I shared THIS CARD and said that there was a secret involved with it? Well, this is another card that holds the SAME secret! Do you notice anything about the two cards? They both use the same items! The stamp, papers, and rhinestones are all the same! So what is so special about these cards???

You can make both cards using items from our new Christmas card kit! :) That's right; we are introducing THREE new kits this week, just in time for Christmas! We know how it is... you have the BEST intentions of creating handmade cards for EVERYONE on your list! But the date draws closer...and closer...and closer....you get the idea. ;) We have the perfect solution for you! Perfectly coordinating papers, cardstock, stamps, and embellishments to limit the guesswork! We'll even throw in some inspiration for how to use the supplies! The three card kits will be part of our Bundle Up! line (Get it??? BUNDLE Up?!? The products are BUNDLED together! And then Bundle UP because it's colder outside! HA!)...ahem....and will be offered in three different styles. We'll have a shimmery snowflake theme, traditional colors and meaning, and fun and funky comtemporary. We can't wait to introduce them! STAY TUNED!!

Also be sure to check out the SALES at Limelight Papercrafts this week!! All Basic Grey 12x12 papers are 15% off, as are the Basic Grey Magnetic Snaps! :)

I also would like to announce the winner of last week's sketch and product challenge!! I had Cameron draw a name, and he picked Blogger Olde Country Creations!

What a wonderful sketch to work with. Here is my card using Unity stamps.

Distress Stickles

We have SO MUCH new in the store! Lots of new Basic Grey (Offbeat, Granola, Mellow, and Urban Prairie paper pads....a few of the 12x12 Wassail papers...) and DISTRESS STICKLES!

At the request of several people, including my friend Lee (Hi, Lee!), I want to show you what the Distress Stickles look like! Now, I am not very happy with this card. I love all of the parts, but they aren't jiving as well as I had originally hoped. I think the patterned paper is what is not to my liking. Ah, well...in the interest of sharing the Stickles, I will show you... ;)

The Distress Stickles have a beach-sand kind of appearance, in my opinion. They aren't super "glittery", but they are more textured and glimmery. Again, think beach sand. Trust me, they are quite fun to use! We have all of the twelve new Distress Stickles in the store! Here is a close-up of the Stickles:

Stamps: Whimsical Birthday (Unity). Ink: Palette Noir. Paper: Hypnotic (Black Magic), Hoopla from the Okee Dokee collection (TaDa), WNP White. Accessories: Copics, Fired Brick Distress Stickles, Pop it! Shapes - Circles, Red Twill.

Happy Holidays

Well, the reality that Christmas is fast-approaching is ever so clear. I think that every card I've made lately is a Christmas card. Not that there is ANYTHING wrong with that...but I can't believe it is coming! I used the Little Yellow Bicycle Christmas Magic clear stamp set for this card. I rarely use acrylic stamps, so I was surprised at the funny stamped images I was getting at first...they were really splotchy and weird! I used a sanding block to gently sand the stamps, and then they stamped crisply and beautifully!! I used Night of Navy Cardstock for the base, stamped Night of Navy ink onto Waste Not Paper Recycled White cardstock (love this stuff!), and stamped the flourish underneath the snowflakes in VersaMark. I embossed with Hologram Highlights. The "happy holidays" sentiment was stamped in white ink. Pop up dots were used to lift the snowflakes up a little! (By the way, Pop it! Shapes are now in the Limelight!!) Silver rhinestones were added to the snowflakes for a little something extra.

So...I was making dinner on Saturday night...November 8....NOVEMBER 8...... and I walked into the living room after a while, where my husband was entertaining the kids. And what did I see? THIS:

And this....

On November 8....

How 'Bout a Giveaway?

I'm just in the mood to give something away... Good for you, no? ;)

We have gotten in so many wonderful new products, and one that I am enjoying very much is Shimmerz! Thanks to Limelight DT member Ryann Salamon for pointing these out to me! You can see the shimmer from my Noel card I posted yesterday even better in this picture...Look along the red striping. That says a lot, you know, if the shimmer can be picked up without special tools, lighting, etc.! I don't have any special photo gadgetry! But I digress... You are here for the goods!

So...who wants their choice of one jar of Shimmerz Paint?!?!? Leave a comment here on this post telling me one thing that makes you SMILE, and I'll choose a random winner on Sunday to receive their choice of Shimmerz! :) Members of our Papercraft Planet Limelight Papercrafts Group may leave TWO comments, meaning TWO chances to win!!

So, what makes me smile?
This...

And this....

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas...

Especially at Limelight Papercrafts! We issued a challenge to each of our talented design team members, the Six Chicks, and also our November 7th Six Chick! We asked them to create an ornament and either packaging for the ornament OR a matching card. And, boy, are you going to be FLOORED with what they came up with! Be sure to hop around to EACH of the DT members (look in my sidebar to the right for links) to see what beautiful creations they have for you! :)

I created a glittery photo ornament using the Little Yellow Bicycle Photo Ornament Kit. These are VERY easy to use and yield gorgeous results! And...since I knew that I'd be showing you this today, they are on SALE this week! I embellished with Kaisercraft Red Pearls (how perfect for the holidays...), Christmas Magic Glitter Snowflakes, and a length of grey taffeta ribbon. There are two pictures on opposing panels. You could do more or less, if you wanted to. Obviously, mine are of Cameron and Katy. :)

The card was very fun to make! I used the Christmas Magic Clear stamp set, the same red pearls, some NEW Truffle Tulle ribbon (Yep! Chocolate brown TULLE!), and NEW Shimmerz paint! I accented the stripes on the BG Wassail designer paper with Gold Glimmer Blingz. So shimmery and pretty! :) It's difficult to photograph shimmer, as we ALL know, but if you look closely at the red stripes on the card, you can see some of the light gold shimmer!

I hope you enjoy the ornament hop today. The DT has worked really hard on bringing these to you... I know you will be amazed and, even more importantly, INSPIRED!

Stamps: Christmas Magic clear set. Paper: Christmas Magic Photo Ornament Kit, DoubleMates Berry Red, WNP Moss, WNP White, BG Wassail. Ink: Old Olive, VersaMark. Accessories: Kaisercraft Red Pearls, Christmas Magic Glitter Snowflakes, Gold EP, Gold Glimmer Blingz Shimmerz, Truffle Tulle, Scallop Edge Punch, Grey Taffeta Ribbon, Foam Tape.

New in the LIMELIGHT!

Lily & Billy Winter is now available for purchase for $14!! How adorable are these wintry images? There are so many possibilities for Christmas cards and beyond! :) Check out these fantastic cards by the Pink Cat Studio design team:

Happy Birthday, Uncle Mike!

Today is my brother Mike's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We love you! (And we have cheesecake...)

I made this card using Lauren's sketch challenge from the weekend. She always has interesting layouts I would NEVER think of! :) And she is such a sweetie to boot, so if you've never tried her sketches, you SHOULD! :) I used this cake stamp from Unity's Whimsical Birthday set and the same Odd Bird Planet Happy Birthday sentiment stamp I showed you yesterday! The papers are actually 12x12 papers from the Basic Grey Cupcake collection, Invitation and Balloons. I finished this off with Star Dust Stickles (only $1 this week at Limelight Papercrafts!!) and two red Kaisercraft Droplets! :) All set on kraft paper. :)

Hope you all get out to vote, if you have not done so already! We voted early...I wonder if you can guess who I voted for??? ;)

Taylor's Sketch and a Limelight Sketch WINNER!

Good November morning to you! I hope you are all refreshed and energized from your weekends and ready for the week! I had the opportunity to participate in a couple of this weekend's sketch challenges, so you'll see them today and tomorrow! :) Today I am showing you my take on Taylor's TE Cupcake Challenge #40. I always find her sketches fun and easy to run with! I needed a child's birthday card (the recipient's mother is a reader, so I won't say WHO!), so I thought this sketch and this Unity stamp set would be PERFECT! I used Whimsical Birthday for the balloons, and I used Odd Bird Planet's Happy Birthday sentiment. A very cute kids' card, I think! :)
And the lucky winner of the Christmas Magic Sticker Tablet, chosen by random.org, is:

Introducing the 7th Six Chick!

The Limelight Six Chicks and I are so thrilled to introduce to you our first ever 7th Six Chick! I know what you are thinking....THAT'S MATHEMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE!! (Sorry, I just couldn't resist...) For the month of November, the super sweet, amazingly talented JESSICA RUSSELL will be joining us on our design team! We expect great things from Jessica! :)

Bio:
I'm so excited to be the 7th Six Chick for November!! I love to read, quilt, write poetry, hike, and stamp (obviously). I have been stamping for about 14 years. I can't really describe my style, but I know it is mine. I love creating cards and gifts for my friends and family. I enjoy the creative process, and usually don't think my projects are complete until I add some ribbon or some bling, possibly both! I have to say that I have NEVER enjoyed creating cards and projects as much as I do right now. Using new stamps and supplies has infused me with a creative energy and enthusiasm that I have been missing for some time! Of course, part of that enthusiasm is coming from my new baby boy, Isaac, who is a much-longed for blessing! He will be a year old on November 9th! I stamp during one of his nap times every day! My husband and I have been married for nearly 8 years. I am a firm believer that we are capable of shaping our lives to be exactly the way we want. That is one reason why I recently took a leave of absence from my teaching job to embark on a new an exciting career as a stay at home mom and stamper!

Here are a few of my favorite cards of Jessica's.... Just a FEW! It's so hard to pick!

Do you remember our Limelight World Card Making Day games and, more importantly, GIVEAWAYS?? Jessica not only participated by posting the random items I asked for, but she MADE A CARD that FIT THE THEME! How cool is that?? Here the card she made when I asked to see your breakfast foods:

This is Jessica's super fabulous card for this week's Limelight Sketch challenge:

Please join me in welcoming Jessica!

Chocolate Box WINNER!

Hooray! Thank you to all of you who signed up for the newsletter! I'll be sending a newsletter out tomorrow, so look for it! :)

Our lucky winner is Leigh Anne Ricks of Orlando, Florida!! Congratulations, Leigh Anne! I'll get your paper pack out to you! :)

Don't forget, Pink Cat Studio stamps are on sale through TOMORROW! And don't forget to pick up some Halloween papers and embellishments to scrap those trick-or-treat memories!! Check it out!!

Be Merry

I just love a simple card that comes together in a snap! This is just that type of card. I used some SU! Very Vanilla cardstock as a base (I cut it lengthwise at the 4 1/4" mark), added a couple of strips of paper from the Basic Grey Wassail 6x6 Paper Pad, layered, and added on a Little Yellow Bicycle Christmas Magic Glitter Snowflake. For fun, I added a Silver Kaisercraft Rhinestone to the center. I used this sentiment from the SU! set Warm Words. I just LOVE that set! :) It seems to go with so much!

Isn't that snowflake just GORGEOUS?? It is so shimmery and pretty...I fell in love with these! And I wish I hadn't!! I tried to reorder these because we only have a few left in the store (they've been wildly popular!) but they are sold out at the manufacturer and not restocking!! I know, it's only just now November, right?!? Sadly, once these are gone, they're GONE! But I am looking for more similar snowflakes....Any ideas??

Don't forget to join in our Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge! We're offering up a Christmas Magic Sticker Tablet to one lucky RANDOM winner!
