Goodbyes and Hellos!

We are sadly saying goodbye to our beloved design team member Becky Carafa today! This was her last day as a part of our team! As sad as we are to see her go, however, we are glad that we will still be seeing her around! She is serving on a couple of other design teams, and she is still doing AMAZING WORK!

We are also saying goodbye to our Seventh Six Chick for April, Rebekka Reed! Rebekka's GORGEOUS works were such a joy to view, and her inspirations have been a blessing!

Along with those goodbyes, we are saying some HELLO'S! Taking a place on our permanent Six Chicks design team is former guest designer Amy Castellano! We LOVED Amy's creations, friendship, and SPUNK during her term with us, and we are beyond thrilled to welcome her on full-time!!

And for our May Seventh Six Chick, we are pleased to present the wonderful Amy Tsuruta!! Here's a bit about Amy, followed by some of her lovely creations:

Hi! My name is Amy and I'm super excited to be picked as the 7th Six Chick for May!!! I have always enjoyed being creative and but have become more dedicated to it since I started up my blog in 2007. I started off as a clean & simple girl but have had fun "stepping things up" with my designs...I work full-time in the world of finance and have 2 gorgeous kids.

Good Thursday morning, everyone! It's time for another Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge! And this week, the focus is on PEARLS! We all have 'em and love 'em, so here is a fabulous way to USE them!! This sketch comes from our beautiful LEE MURPHY! For my card, I had to improvise a little because I am still in DC, and I forgot my circle and oval cutters!! Ack! But no worries...that is part of the fun, using what you HAVE! I plan on making a smaller-scale card sometime today. I hope I have the time to get that done; I will certainly share it if I do!

Stamps: Something Within (Unity). Paper: Wisteria 6x6 Paper Pad (all roughed up! :) ), Chocolate Chip. Ink: Chocolate Chip, White Craft. Accessories: Kaisercraft Snow Pearls.

The Details:

Washington, DC!

Hi, everyone! I have some pictures today from yesterday's Washington, DC activities. I am sure many of you might only be interested in cards, and I'll have more of those by tomorrow. But for family and friends (personal and virtual!) who would like to see, here are some of the things we've done!

One of ALL of our favorite activities yesterday was the fountain at the National Sculpture Garden. You can just sit and put your feet in the cool water....HEAVENLY after a day of walking! The kids just LOVED it, and Cameron was asking to go back all day today! :)

Another favorite has been playing on the lawn of the National Mall! Yesterday and today, the kids have loved the freedom to just run and play!

At the Museum of Natural History gem exhibit, there is this GREAT amethyst quartz that visitors are encouraged TO TOUCH! :) Yay for toddlers being able to touch! :)

Katy was VERY happy at dinner playing with Daddy! Drew would tease her by offering her the cloth napkin and then pulling it away before she could get it! See that cute smile?? This might be one of my favorite pictures of Katy!

This is a picture of ALL of us at the fountain again!

Cameron and I had cupcakes at Red Velvet Cupcakery in Washington, DC. YUM! :) I had the Key West cupcake, and Cam stuck with the B-day cupcake! Birthday Cupcake, you had him at "Sprinkles".

Cameron and I with the "big huge elephant in the lobby", as Cameron calls it! He was very much looking forward to this elephant for MONTHS before we came!!
Here is the elephant again. Cameron took this picture! ;) That's why the head is kinda chopped off a little. (Drew took the previous picture, which is why the head is kinda chopped off of that one! LOL!)

Wisteria Lollipops

You know, I am REALLY loving Wisteria! This is not my natural palette that I turn to, but how gorgeous are the colors! I think this simple card will either be a Mother's Day card or a birthday card.
I made one of those super-cool lollipop flowers using the Wisteria papers. If you prefer to purchase them (and these have a different look), Limelight carries the Prima lollipop flowers. Only $2.99 for two BIG flowers that you can keep together or pull apart for several projects. For this card, I used Elegant Eggplant and Kraft cardstocks, and I accented with Lavender Pearls.

And for something fun for FRIDAY today, I'd like to share one of my kids' favorite songs! It's called The Seven Days of the Week (I Never Go to Work) by They Might Be Giants... Enjoy!

Wisteria Sour Cream Containers

Well, happy Thursday to all of you! I hope you are having a wonderful day! I'm having a blast playing with my new Basic Grey!! I made some of the sour cream treat containers to put on the tables for a luncheon at church today, and I knew that the Wisteria papers would be the PERFECT complement! :) If you do not have the new Wisteria and Lime Rickey, do a CYBER RUN over to Limelight to pick them up! They are must-haves! And, I'm finding that the Wisteria line totally coordinates with my Fifth Avenue Floral Stampin' Up! set! Love that.

We are having a killer sale this week...FREE RIBBON!! For every three yards of ribbon you purchase, you may choose ONE YARD OF RIBBON FREE (of equal or lesser value, please)! Simply note your ribbon choice in the Comments section during checkout. If no free ribbon is selected, we will include a yard of our choice.

Another My Room Rub-on Card

I apologize right away for the quality of this scan! I needed some quick cards the other night, and I'd like to use up the package of rub-ons I used for my sketch card... So I threw this together. I really like the eyeballs on top of the "peek-a-boo"! Very simple card...Sometimes we need those, so I thought I'd share. :) I think the finished size of this card was 3.5" x 2.5".

Don't forget to try the sketch challenge! See one post below! :)

Limelight Sketch Product Challenge #19

Here we are on Thursday with another edition of the Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge! I just LOVE the way my sketch card turned out! I used the My Room Rub-ons from the October Afternoon Night Light collection. Although this line is all about monsters and childhood, I used these papers and rub-ons to create a card with my husband in mind!! And let me tell you, this is another brand of rub-ons that comes off SO easily and looks PERFECT every time. Love that. :) The boy and girl are separate rub-ons, as is the "my best friend" sentiment. Oh, and those stars on the black band across the card? Yep, they are rub-ons, too! :)

Paper: Basic Black, SU Kraft, OA Night Light - Jack. Accessories: OA My Room Rub-ons, Red Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Pop-it Circles dimensional.

This sketch is also an easy one to use; be sure you try it and play along with us! Up for grabs this week is a package of Basic Grey Silver Summer Rub-ons! And there's a BONUS.... Oh, yes, you can have TWO entries into the random drawing this week? How, you ask?

The LORD is My Strength

Our dear friend Tiffany Johnson put out a request for cards for her mother-in-law. Her MIL has cancer that has spread beyond the help of chemotherapy. She has been discharged from hospice to spend the rest of her days at home. It is obvious to me through Tiffany's words that her MIL is a very special lady. I created this card for her using Taylor VanBruggen's TECC62 sketch. I used this verse from the Something Within set from Unity.

I know that death is not the end... We are created for so much more than this life here on earth. With Easter upon us, this is an appropriate time to meditate on these things in our own lives!!

See THIS POST if you'd like to also send a card to Tiff's MIL!

Stamps: Something Within (Unity). Paper: Basic Grey Urban Prairie, So Saffron, Cool Caribbean, Very Vanilla. Ink: Regal Rose, Cool Caribbean. Accessories: Soft Pink Rhinestone, Pop It! Circles.

Six Chicks Sketch #18

Metallic elements can really spruce up a card! Brads, inks, rhinestones, or hardware...bring it ALL out for this week's Sketch and Product Challenge!

Happy Thursday, everyone! I am sorry I've been gone for a while. I have had a pretty bad flare-up of my Crohn's Disease, and I have gotten a little behind!! Of course, taken care of our customer's orders is first priority, so the blog has taken the backseat a little bit. ;) But I am better, and I am back!

For my card, I have created a card base with two pieces of 5 1/2" circle cardstock by Waste Not Paper. The color is Pool...isn't it pretty? (These are on clearance at Limelight for 20 CENTS apiece!!) I layered on my *favorite* Basic Grey Urban Prairie for some color and design, and I added a stamped image from Unity Stamp Company's Something Within stamp set. I accented with a Kiwi Kiss photo corner, some Silver Kaisercraft Rhinestones, and... the piece de resistance... a Prima BUTTERFLY!! Isn't it GORGEOUS?? I just love those little butterflies. They really make a project special. The rhinestones and butterfly, which contains wire and rhinestones, counts for my metallics! I moved my embellishment to the top so that it would fit, but you can see below that the original sketch calls for it to be in the lower left. :)

Here are the details:
**Use the sketch provided along with anything METALLIC!
**Key word for SCS upload is LLPC018.
**Post a comment with a link to your card here on
this post by Sunday, April 5, at midnight (or before winner is drawn Monday a.m.).
**PRIZE ~
One 6x6 or 8x8 paper pad of the winner's choice! Winner is chosen randomly!
**Hope that YOU will play along!! :)

April 7th Six Chick Revealed!

We'd like to give a warm welcome to our April 7th Six Chick (our guest designer), Rebekka Reed! When I came across her blog, I was stunned to find that she is a new stamper!! Her creations are gorgeous.... GORGEOUS! We are blessed to have her join us for this month! Please welcome Rebekka, and be sure to visit her blog at http://diamondintherough24.blogspot.com/

A bit about Rebekka:

I am a born again Christian; have been saved since 1975 and still marching strong :). I work full time at a job I love and have been at for over 25 years. I know, I am blessed. I got into card making a little less then a year ago, I use to do computer generated cards, came across Splitcoast, and got hooked on stamps :). This is my only hobby out side of studying the word of God. I am single (divorced) have 7 son's, 6 are in glory and one is here with me, he is 32 years old not married, a military career man, getting ready to work on his master's. I pray God will bring him a wife and some grand children :).

Scrapsketch Challenge WINNER!

TAMI!!! You lucky duck, you! You win the Sliding Doors! I'll get those right out to you!! :)

Everyone, be sure to check in tomorrow for our regularly scheduled Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge!! :)
